The programme endeavours to address the changing trends in industry by updating pertinent modules namely Electrical Technology, Electronics, Control, Instrumentation, Electrical machines, Protection Supply which will enable the Technician to perform skillfully and apply knowledge to achieve desired objectives.

Diploma in Electrical Technology

The purpose of this program is to equip trainees with knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to interpret design specifications, install, test, commission, maintain and operate electrical equipment plants and power systems.

Requirements

1. For Direct entry - Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 5 credits in English, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry/Science and any other subjects.

2. For Mature age entry - Candidates with level 5 (Certificate in Advanced) Certificate in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience.

Duration

The duration of the programme is three years (4210 hours) inclusive of industrial attachment.

Level 4 Certificate in Electrical Technology

The purpose of this program is to equip trainees with knowledge, skills, and appropriate attitudes to interpret design specifications, install, test, prepare for commission, maintenance and operation of electrical equipment, plants, and energy systems.

Requirements

1. Direct entry: Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) passes in English, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry/Science and any other two (2) subjects. .

2. General Certificate of Education with a Minimum of three (3) passes in English, Mathematics Physics/Chemistry/Science, and any other subjects.

Duration

The duration of the programme is two years or 2400 notional learning hours inclusive of 480 hours industrial attachment.
